Krithika Srinivasan

Senior Lecturer in the School of Geosciences at the University of Edinburgh. Her research and teaching interests lie at the intersection of political ecology and animal studies. Her work draws on research in South Asia to rethink globally established concepts and practices about nature-society relations.

Through projects on street dogs, biodiversity conservation, animal agriculture, and non-elite environmentalisms, her scholarship focuses on decolonizing and reconfiguring approaches to multispecies justice. Her research is rooted in long-term field engagement and praxis in India.

She has been carrying out research on human-street dog relations for more than 10 years, including on street dog welfare and control, the everyday cosmopolitics of people-street dog interactions, and most recently, on public health dimensions. For this project, Krithika will lead qualitative and multispecies research on the everyday, institutional, and biosocial dimensions of human-dog interactions, and the reconceptualization of One Health.
