Niloofar Golkar

Postdoctoral fellow at the Social Justice Center at Concordia University. She is a lecturer at the Center for Global Studies at Huron University College. An activist, researcher, and writer, she received her Ph.D. from York University’s Department of Politics. Her postdoctoral research explores alternative economic pathways to social justice through an interdisciplinary lens grounded in Indigenous sovereignty, the commons, cooperatives, and anticapitalist theories.

Her doctoral thesis, titled “Conflict and Solidarity Between Anti-Colonial Environmentalism, Indigenous Anti-Pipeline Resistance, and Labor in Canada,” is the result of over a decade of scholarly activism and direct action in solidarity with Indigenous resistance to extractivism and environmental racism. Her environmental activism includes anti-pipeline organizing and labor organizing in Canada. She has also contributed to the feminist movement in Iran as a member of We Change and Feminists for Jina.
