Bruna Della Torre

Postdoctoral researcher at the Käte Hamburger Centre for Apocalyptic and Post-Apocalyptic Studies at Heidelberg University. Trained in the Social Sciences at the University of São Paulo, she conducted postdoctoral research in the Department of Literary Theory and Comparative Literature at the same university and was a visiting scholar in the Literature Program at Duke University under the supervision of Fredric Jameson. She was also a Horkheimer Fellow at the Institute for Social Research in Frankfurt, a visiting researcher at Goethe University Frankfurt and Humboldt University of Berlin in Germany, and at the Akademie der Künste in Berlin.

Her research is grounded in the tradition of Critical Theory, with particular emphasis on cultural criticism and the relations between aesthetic form, politics, and society. She is the author of “Vanguarda do atraso ou atraso da vanguarda? Oswald de Andrade e os teimosos destinos do Brasil” (The Vanguard of Backwardness or the Backwardness of the Vanguard? Oswald de Andrade and Brazil’s Unyielding Destinies) and co-author of “Objective Form and World Literature: Antonio Candido and Roberto Schwarz” (Verso, forthcoming).
